PROFILE

Michael E. Lee is originally from New Jersey and has lived in the Boston area most of his life. He is currently based in Western Massachusetts after working in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for nine years.
His photography started at the age of 12 when he used to venture alone into N.Y.C.from N.J.,with his first camera; An Instamatic. Just like he learned the subway systems on his own, he also learned lighting, flash, and exposures on his own. When he got his hands on his first SLR and used high speed film for the first time, he experimented with night photography and time-exposures, learning the proper lens and shutter settings.

While working primarily as a pilot and mechanic over the years, he stayed focused on his photography and began entering juried art exhibitions and showing his work at galleries. He attended photography school at the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale where he learned valuable fine-tune aspects of lighting, exposure and composition.
Michael Lee's main specialties of photowork include Urban/Industrial photography, Photo journalism, Still-Life, and Model/Portraiture. With the model and fashion industry growing, he has paved his way toward this market and has done creative, quality work with beginner models and helped them get their initial portfolios established.

Michael has also helped promote groups of up-and-coming musicians by featuring them in highly intense urban-style portraits. His urban work captures the realism of life in the city from different prospectives and the everyday people.
With many new projects ahead, Michael travels frequently between Boston, New York and Miami promoting work and portraying new subjects.
As his portfolio of strong and vivid images continue to grow, he plans on further marketing his work in post cards, books and future exhibitions.
